The Regional Water Resources Office 9 (RWRO 9) participated in the 2nd meeting of the Sukhothai Provincial Drought Prevention and Mitigation Command Center Committee on April 21, 2026. Mr. Nimit Kotbua, Director of RWRO 9, assigned the Water Allocation Division to attend the meeting, chaired by Mr. Somlak Yoknoi Wong, Deputy Governor of Sukhothai Province, at the Provincial Command Center, 2nd floor, old Provincial Hall. The purpose of the meeting was to continuously and effectively monitor the drought situation and prevent and mitigate its problems. RWRO 9 reported on the water management guidelines for the Mae Ramphan Reservoir in Taling Chan Subdistrict, Ban Dan Lan Hoi District, Sukhothai Province, and Nong Jorakhe Reservoir in Sarachit Subdistrict, Si Satchanalai District, Sukhothai Province.

The Regional Water Resources Office 9 (RWRO 9) provided bottled drinking water to operational teams monitoring and controlling forest fires in order to reduce forest fires, haze, and PM2.5 dust. On April 16, 2026, the Regional Water Resources Office 9, in collaboration with the Protected Area Management Office 11, Phitsanulok, donated 720 bottles of 500 ml drinking water to support operations in extinguishing forest fires, reducing haze, and decreasing PM2.5 dust in Phitsanulok Province. 

The Office of Water Resources Region 9 organized Songkran Festival activities for the year 2026 under the theme "Thai Songkran Tradition: Using Water Wisely, Preserving Culture" to show respect for and continue the beautiful Thai tradition. The activities included pouring water to seek blessings from the Director of the Office of Water Resources Region 9, Mr. Nimit Kotbua, and retired officials of 2026, at the first floor of the Office of Water Resources Region 9.

The National Water Resources Office Region 9 (NWRO 9) participated in meetings and served as a speaker, setting up an exhibition booth on "Driving the Clean Water Plan in the Yom River Basin" according to the Water Resources Act B.E. 2561 (2018) on April 7th and 9th, 2026. Mr. Nimit Kotbua, Director of the National Water Resources Office Region 9, assigned the Water Allocation Division, together with the Hydrology Division 1, to participate in the workshop "Driving the Clean Water for Consumption Plan (2023-2037) in the Yom River Basin" as follows: April 7th, 2026, chaired by Mr. Thanakorn Ungjitpaisan, Deputy Governor of Phrae Province, at the Nakara Grand Ballroom, Phrae Nakara Hotel, Mueang Phrae District, Phrae Province; and April 9th, 2026, chaired by Mr. Somlak Yoknoi Wong, Deputy Governor of Sukhothai Province, at Function Room 1…

The Mechanical Division of the 9th Water Resources Office participated in the ceremony of offering floral wreaths and delivering a eulogy on the occasion of King Phutthayodfa Chulalok Maharaj Day and the commemoration of the Chakri Dynasty at the King Phutthayodfa Chulalok Maharaj Monument in Mueang Phitsanulok District, Phitsanulok Province. Mr. Kiattisak Trongsiri, Governor of Phitsanulok Province, presided over the ceremony. “Chakri Day,” observed annually on April 6th, is a day when Thai citizens commemorate the benevolent reign of King Phutthayodfa Chulalok Maharaj, the first monarch of the Chakri Dynasty, who established Bangkok as the capital and laid the foundation for the country's stability to this day.

From March 30 to April 3, 2026, the Water Resources Office Region 9, through its Water Allocation Division, conducted capacity building activities for local administrative organizations (LAOs) in assessing the quality of village water supply systems in four areas: 1) Noen Maprang Subdistrict Administrative Organization, Noen Maprang District, Phitsanulok Province; 2) Sai Yoi Subdistrict Municipality, Noen Maprang District, Phitsanulok Province; 3) Nam Khrai Subdistrict Administrative Organization, Nam Pad District, Uttaradit Province; and 4) Den Lek Subdistrict Administrative Organization, Nam Pad District, Uttaradit Province. The activities included providing guidance on assessing village water supply system quality and collecting water samples for quality analysis.

The Regional Water Resources Office 9 (RWRO 9) conducted a project to establish and educate water user groups in Phrae Province on Thursday, April 2, 2026. Mr. Nimit Kotbua, Director of RWRO 9, assigned the Water Resource Conservation Division 2, Phrae, led by Ms. Jirachaya Chankham, Director of Water Resource Conservation Division 2, Phrae, along with staff, to implement the project to improve the efficiency of the Huai Mun Reservoir and water distribution system in Ban Wang Hong, Village No. 5, Wang Hong Subdistrict, Mueang Phrae District, Phrae Province. The meeting was held at the Wang Hong Subdistrict Municipality meeting room. The project aimed to promote knowledge and participation in water resource management in the area, encouraging group formation, maintenance of water sources to ensure efficiency, and fair and effective water allocation among group members for maximum benefit. The meeting was attended by 61 participants, including water users in the project area, community leaders, and local government officials.

The Regional Water Resources Office 9 (RWRO 9) conducted an outreach and training program for water user groups in Uttaradit Province on Wednesday, April 1, 2026. Mr. Nimit Kotbua, Director of RWRO 9, assigned the Water Resource Conservation Division 2, Phrae, led by Ms. Jirachaya Chankham, Director of Water Resource Conservation Division 2, Phrae, along with staff, to conduct the project. The program focused on establishing and providing training on the water resource conservation and restoration project, specifically connecting the Bueng Sakat-Bueng Bua water network and diverting water from the Khlong Tron canal in Ban Tha Din Khao, Village No. 6, Nam Ang Subdistrict, Tron District, Uttaradit Province. The training took place at the Sri Sa-at Temple meeting hall. The objective of this project was to promote knowledge and community participation in water resource management, fostering group formation, maintaining water sources in good and efficient condition, and ensuring fair and optimal water distribution among group members. The meeting was attended by 71 participants, including water users in the project area, community leaders, and local government officials.

The Department of Water Resources, through the Mechanical Division of Water Resources Office 9, conducted a field inspection and maintenance of machinery (sludge dredging boat) at Nong Hantra, Ban Bung Subdistrict, Mueang District, Phichit Province on April 2-3, 2026, to ensure it is in full working condition to support water resource management missions in the area.
